The long-term vision of Aphelion Aerospace is to make access to space efficient, affordable, safe, & sustainable for the benefit of all humanity. As a first step to accomplishing this mission, Aphelion Aerospace has developed space propulsion technologies that are high performing while being low-cost and use environmentally friendly “green” propellants.
In regard to spacecraft propulsion, hydrazine, the most commonly used propellant, is extremely hazardous to the environment and the human body; it’s carcinogenic. Likewise, while spacecraft are manufactured in small quantities, the risk posture of hydrazine could be considered negligible. However, as the number of spacecrafts increase from hundreds to tens of thousands, the risks will magnify exponentially.
To address this, Aphelion Aerospace has developed a new propulsion solution that uses non-toxic and environmentally friendly green propellants for the satellite industry. Our in-space propulsion systems utilize our proprietary hydrogen peroxide-based HydroX propellant formula. Our technology, with its respective propulsion system architecture, satisfies the green propulsion needs far better than any other system currently being considered. All the propellant ingredients can be handled for processing with minimal precautions, reducing related costs and hazards in comparison to the current leading satellite propulsion systems and those associated with most of the newer systems in development.
Aphelion Aerospace in-space propulsion systems offer a range of performance from <1 N to over 1000 N thrust levels. The efficiency of the technology is better than other green propulsion systems, with a Specific Impulse exceeding 320 seconds.
